ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR 10TH ASEAN PARA GAMES IN MANILA

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano, Chairman of the 10 th  ASEAN Para Games, starts preparations for the 10 th  ASEAN Para Games in Manila with the Philippine Paralympic Committee (PPC) and the support of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).  The  Games  will be participated in by 11 countries competing in 20 sports composed of 400 events. The estimated attendance is around 2,000 para athletes, 1,000 team officials, 1,500 technical officials and 100 medical staff. A total of 4,000 local volunteers will be mobilized to assist in the staging of the games. Jr. NBA Philippines 2018 presented by Alaska will stage the fourth Regional Selection Camp at Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati April 21-22.    Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball participation program, invites boys and girls ages 10-14 years old born 2004-2008 from the National Capital Region and nearby provinces to participate in the final Regional Selection Camp to learn the fundamentals of the game as well as the core S.T.A.R values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, a positive Attitude and Respect.  Prior to Metro Manila, Jr. NBA hosted Regional Selection Camps in Bacolod, Butuan and Benguet earlier in February and March. Manila, Philippines  – Convergys Philippines won a  Gold Anvil for its employee-driven philanthropy called “Give A Bag of Hope” (GABOH) Year 3, at the recently held 53 rd  Anvil Awards. It is the 2 nd  consecutive year for the company to be recognized in the category “Public Relations Program on a Sustained Basis – Community Development.” On GABOH’s 3 rd  year in 2017, more than 42,000 employees from Convergys’ 34 sites nationwide came together to donate a portion of their own salaries, raising Php 18 Million  in 3 months , and generating 35,000 bags complete with books and school supplies as a result.  The employees also distributed the bags to schoolkids in over 30 partner public schools and communities across the country. Ana once again added an award under his belt as he won recently as the first ever champion of the KTM Dukehana Luzon leg held at Circuit Makati parking grounds. KTM Dukehana is a motorcycle time trial sport where motorcycle riders compete to maneuver through a paved course restricted by traffic cones and other skill-testing obstacles in shortest time. There will be two more legs of the competition: one in April in Davao and another in June in Cebu. The Filipino champion will represent the country in the Dukehana Asia Finals where he will compete against other Asian competitors including Thailand, China and Taiwan.
