Marriott appoints new Executives as it opens additional 228 Premium Rooms

As Marriott Manila gears up to launch the next wave of its expansion project, the Marriott West Wing that will add 228 rooms and several dining outlets, it appoints 2 new executives Melvyn Angeles as Director of Rooms and Joe Dee Simbulan as Director of Loss Prevention. These experienced leaders will assist in maintaining Marriott’s position as a leading MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) hotel in the Philippines. Since the opening of the Marriott Grand Ballroom last July 2015, there has been an increasing demand for accommodation with the contracting of multiple large Conferences and Special Events. The new development will feature only premium room categories and luxurious amenities.

Melvyn Angeles has been part of the Marriott Manila’s pre-opening team since 2009 as the Director of Housekeeping. Before joining Marriott Melvyn had many years of hotel operations experience from other leading brands in both the Metro Manila area and abroad. His valuable contributions and leadership have afforded Marriott Manila to receive the Traveller’s Choice Award yearly from Trip Advisor and have continually positioned Marriott Manila as the leader in the brand for Staff Service Overall in the Asia Pacific Region.

Joe Dee Simbulan joins Marriott from both a security and a hotel background. This Philippine Military Academy graduate served in the Philippine Army and Presidential Security Group, he had a vital role of leading the team responsible for ensuring the safety of the Malacanang Palace.  After deciding to retire from the military in 2015, he assumed the role of Director of Security another leading hotel in Manila. His extensive risk management experiences are valuable for Marriott Manila, which continues to prioritize the safety and security of the guests throughout the robust expansion.

Marriott Manila’s General Manager Bruce Winton is confident on these new leaders will contribute positively during this growth period for the property. GM Winton positively says, “As we continue to grow our hotel, it is critical to grow the experience of our team. Both Melvyn and Joe Dee have track records of success in their own right and we are excited for their future contributions in leveraging the guest experience and leading our hotel and team to greater heights.”
