Jr. NBA Philippines 2019 presented by Alaska Hosts Metro Manila Regional Selection Camp

Jr. NBA Philippines presented by Alaska will stage its last Regional Selection Camp for 2019 at the Don Bosco Technical Institute Makati April 27-28.  The Metro Manila leg of the regional tryouts is free and open to boys and girls ages 10-14.

Jr. NBA coaches, led by Rob Newson of the NBA and PBA legend Jeffrey Cariaso of Alaska, will teach participants the fundamental skills and core values of the game.  Tipping off at 9:00 am on April 27, the two-day event will measure a player’s skill and knowledge through a series of drills and exhibition games against their peers, selecting the final set of athletes to complete the 40 boys and 40 girls participating at the National Training Camp on May 17-19.

This year, Jr. NBA Philippines All-Stars—comprised of as many as five boys and five girls—will advance to the first Jr. NBA Global Championship Asia Pacific Selection Camp, a week-long selection camp in June with top youth players from North Asia, Southeast Asia, and Pacific regions.

In addition, the Asia Pacific regional competition will identify 10 boys and 10 girls who will represent the region in the Jr. NBA Global Championship held Aug. 6-11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World near Orlando, Florida.  The international event will headline young players from the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, China, Mexico, Africa, India and the Asia-Pacific.

The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, teaches the fundamental skills as well as the core values of the game at the grassroots level in an effort to help grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents.  During the 2018-19 season, the NBA and its teams plan to reach more than 51 million youth in 75 countries through league play, in-school programming, clinics, skills challenges, and other outreach events.

Jr. NBA Philippines 2019 is presented by Alaska, with AXA, Gatorade, Globe, Panasonic, Rexona, and Vivo as official partners.  ABS-CBN S+A, Basketball TV and NBA Premium TV are the official broadcasters of Jr. NBA Philippines.

Participants can now register for the Jr. NBA program online at www.jrnba.asia/philippines, and follow Jr. NBA on Facebook and the NBA at www.nba.com and on Facebook and Twitter.  Fans can visit www.alaskamilk.com to learn more about Alaska Milk Corporation, and follow Alaska Milk on Facebook for more information about Alaska Sports.
