Ben Stiller’s reimagining of James Thurber’s original story is highly entertaining and inspiring, revolving around a man who loves to daydream, frequently retreating into an imaginary world in which he is the hero. A photo editor at LIFE Magazine in New York, he enjoys his job but longs for passion and excitement. As he was about to lose his job as the company shifts and downsizes, Mitty finds himself out of his office in no time. The final issue of the prestigious magazine will soon be on newsstands, but a worried MItty cannot find an important negative that has mysteriously gone missing.
The picture was taken by the iconic and elusive photographer Sean O’Connell played by Sean Penn. Sean is the only one who knows where it is. But where is Sean?
For all his fantasies of becoming a hero, Walter Mitty has his own very real hero: the famed LIFE photographer Sean O’Connell, an elusive adventurer who has become a kind of rock star of the photographic world, renowned for his relentless commitment to chasing a story no matter the cost.
It seemed just the right match to cast Oscar®-winning actor and director Sean Penn in the role of the mysterious icon who beckons Walter Mitty into the big, wide open world. “Sean O’Connell is a guy who represents creative integrity and he had to have this amazing presence that the audience connects with instantly when Walter finally meets him. That’s why Sean Penn was really my first choice because Sean embodies all that in life for me,” says Ben Stiller. Stiller was also keen to cast Penn in the kind of role where one of the leading dramatic actors of a generation wouldn’t normally be seen. “Sean actually has a really great sense of humor,” he notes, “which I think doesn’t get showcased that often in his film work, so it was fun to give him a chance to do something different.”
Adds producer Stuart Cornfeld: “Sean O’Connell has a certain kind of mystique, as does Sean Penn. What was amazing about his performance and the way the character is written is that when Walter finally does meet Sean, he's everything that Walter was looking for, but he's also completely different at the same time. For all of us, Sean was just amazing to watch in action.”
A two-time Academy Award winner, Sean Penn has become an American film icon in a career spanning more than three decades. Penn has been nominated five times for the Academy Award, as Best Actor for “Dead Man Walking,” “Sweet and Lowdown” and “I Am Sam,” and won his first Oscar in 2003 for his searing performance in Clint Eastwood's “Mystic River” and his second Oscar as Best Actor in 2009 for Gus Van Sant's “Milk.” The performance as gay rights icon Harvey Milk also garnered Penn Best Actor awards from The Screen Actors Guild (SAG™), New York Film Critics Circle and Los Angeles Film Critics Association.
As a journalist, Penn has written for Time, Interview, Rolling Stone and The Nation magazines. In 2004, Penn wrote a two-part feature in The San Francisco Chronicle after a second visit to war-torn Iraq. In 2005, he wrote a five-part feature in the same paper reporting from Iran during the election which led to the Ahmadinejad regime. Penn's landmark interviews with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez and Cuba's President Raul Castro were published in The Nation and The Huffington Post. Penn's interview with President Castro was his first-ever interview with an international journalist.
His humanitarian work found him in New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and, more recently, in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. In January 2010, Penn established the J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO). J/P HRO has become a leader in Haiti across multiple sectors, working to improve living conditions in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps and surrounding neighborhoods by clearing rubble and providing medical services, education and enricmment programs, housing construction, and neighborhood redevelopment. J/P HRO's main objective remains to help displaced people get back to durable, safer, and permanent homes in revitalized neighborhoods.
Be a part of a man’s transformational journey in “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” as it hops from the four corners of one’s office to Greenland, Iceland, Himalayas and ultimately to self-discovery when it opens January 22 in the Philippines from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

For the first time in movie history, audiences will truly see and feel what it was like when dinosaurs ruled the Earth. “Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie” is the ultimate immersive, big-screen adventure for families. You’ll meet dinosaurs more real than you’ve ever seen as you embark on a thrilling prehistoric journey, where Patchi, an underdog dino, triumphs against all odds to become a hero for the ages.
Featuring the voices of Patchi’s heroics and antics resonate in any era, but he is also a product of his times and stomping grounds – the latter part of the Cretaceous Period, about 70 million years ago in a land we now call Alaska.
Patchi meet Alex the Alexornis bird narrator in walking with dinosaurs_
Audiences will really get behind Patchi and root for this underdog hero to triumph. The movie points to our continuing fascination, if not obsession with creatures that have been extinct for millions of years. The T. Rex and the Gorgosaurus are among the most fearsome predators to have ever walked the Earth, but kids (of all ages) can’t get enough of them. Dinosaurs spark our imaginations as much as any fictional creation does.
“Kids love dinosaurs, and they’re going to love “Walking with Dinosaurs” because it feels so real, has lots of humor and fun,” says John Leguizamo, who voices Alex, a prehistoric parrot who is Patchi’s best pal. “Plus, they’ll love the camaraderie between Patchi and Alex.” Dinosaurs combine the best of two worlds: they’re scary, but because dinos haven’t been around for millions of years, they’re non-threatening.
Co-director Neil Nightingale believes our enduring obsession with them is here to stay. “Dinosaurs are the most amazing creatures to have ever existed on our planet. In four and a half billion years of Earth’s existence, there have been no creatures that are more dramatic or terrifying. Dinosaurs fascinate us because they represent a sort of safe danger. You can be scared of them but not too scared because they are long gone. They’re not going to come out from under the bed or pounce on you in the dark! And it is not just dinosaurs we are talking about; it is The Age of Dinosaurs. It is amazing to know that the world we now live in, the skies above us and the stars we see were once their realm– incredible animals now lost to prehistoric history.”
walking with dinosaurs
“In bringing WALKING WITH DINOSAURS to the big screen, we wanted to transport audiences back to a real world, to meet dinosaurs that truly existed and to immerse audiences in that world,” Nightingale continues. “For a big motion picture experience it’s also vital to have a strong and emotionally engaging story. So we used what we know about Late Cretaceous Alaskan dinosaurs as inspiration for a fictional, character-driven story we knew would entertain families.”
In bringing the dinosaurs back to life, the producers have prepared these amazing tutorial videos on How To Draw A Dinosaur:
Twentieth Century Fox and Reliance Entertainment present in association with IM Global, a BBC Earth Films and Evergreen Studios Production in association with Animal Logic, “Walking With Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie.”
“Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie” is about to revolutionize 2D and 3D experience when it opens in cinemas nationwide on January 8 from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Watching Out For Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) Scams

 trend logo

It is sad to note that some bad people or syndicates especially Cybercriminals does some cruel acts of getting money from some people or organizations around the world using the disasters that comes on to any nation in the world. This time they even used social media to manipulate people using fake accounts which leads to some confusion and make some people tied their hands to do such help such as this one. Trend Micro Antivirus through their Security features does the job of not going through a fake site or a dangerous site that should not be attempted to open for some reasons.

November 2013 – More than a week has passed since Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) made landfall over the central Philippines, leaving thousands dead or injured, with millions more in need of humanitarian assistance. More than US$248 million in relief has been given both by governments and the private sector to date.

Unfortunately, many scams have already taken advantage of this disaster. For example, fake Facebook pages (like this one) ask for donations via PayPal, which end up in the hands of would-be scammers rather than the hands of legitimate charities:

This particular Facebook page actually asks users to visit the scammer’s own blog, which asks users to make a “donation” via PayPal. They go so far as to take them to the PayPal payment page – where it becomes clear that the user is sending money to somebody’s personal account and not a legitimate charity.

Fake Facebook pages aren’t the only type of scam that took advantage of the calamity. We spotted several spammed messages with Typhoon Haiyan as the subject. These messages often required the recipients to give their personal information or send money via wire or bank transfers.

While it might seem deplorable to take advantage of natural disasters, it’s simply business for cybercriminals. In previous disasters – like the 2011 tsunami/earthquake in Japan – attackers have taken advantage of the tragedy to create phishing pages, spam attacks, and blackhat SEO attacks.

How can users protect themselves from these scams and make sure that their donations end up in the right hands? Here are some useful tips.

  • Give to organizations you know and/or trust. Some scammers will try to pass themselves off as new charities established expressly for this disaster. Instead, donate to well-known charities that have been around for years. Alternately, smaller organizations that you personally know and trust to be reliable can also be a safe choice.
  • Be careful about appeals from social media and e-mail. Appeals to donate to various charities are spreading both via social media and e-mail messages. While many, if not most, of these are not scams, some will be. Some may be appeals from fake charities; others may just be lures to direct users to malicious websites. In either case, be careful about listening to these appeals. If you do decide to give to an organization whose appeal you saw here, go directly to their site by typing their URL into the address bar or using a search engine. This will help minimize the risks from potentially malicious links.
  • Check the payment site carefully. If you’re making a donation online, check the payment site as carefully as you would any other online payment. Whether it’s entering your credit card information directly, or using some other online payment site (like Amazon, Google, or PayPal,) be aware that these can be phished as well.

There are many charities that could use your donations, but this is not the time to let your guard down. These tips can help ensure that your donation gets to where it is needed the most. We also note that you can make donations to the American Red Cross from inside Facebook itself; details can be found in their official blog.
