Marriott Hotel Manila announces the appointment of Chris Dela Torre as new Director of Convention Sales, focusing on Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE). She will be responsible for driving new business both domestic and international for the recently opened Marriott Grand Ballroom, the country’s largest pillarless ballroom. Dela Torre has solid experience almost spanning three decades in Sales and Marketing with a firm grasp on the MICE industry. Through the years, she has received several prestigious awards. The most noteworthy is the highly coveted Mabuhay Awards in 2003 - over-all champion managerial category and the esteemed Eclipse Award from Hyatt International.

Prior joining Marriott Manila, she was the Assistant Vice President for Sales, in-charge of Sales and Marketing of SM Hotels and Convention venues for 5 years. There she worked on top key sources in Asia Pacific to push for MICE business in Manila. She started her career in 1986 as a guest services manager and worked her way to the top and became the Director of Sales and Marketing at Hyatt Regency Manila. In 2006, she landed an impressive position overseas as the Director of Sales at Sheraton Grand Tai Ping Yang Shanghai. Wherein she handled market research and administrative Sales management of catering, corporate and travel accounts from Europe, Middle East and America.
Dela Torre’s arrival is a strong indicator that Marriott Manila is securing its position to be the premiere meeting destination in the country, especially with the newly opened Marriott Grand Ballroom. The Philippines’ largest pillarless ballroom boasts of almost 3,000 square meters of function space complemented with state of the art technology featuring multi-colored and adjustable pillow lights, high quality audio visual equipment, and sky fold technology. Aside from the main ballroom, there are also 28 versatile new meeting rooms to suit every event planner’s needs whether for business or social.
