Danny Kingad Sees ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix As Pathway To Another Title Shot





After punching himself a ticket to the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, Danny “The King” Kingad is now looking to test himself against some of the best in the division.

Kingad formally put his name in the tournament after beating Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada in convincing fashion at ONE: HERO’S ASCENT this past January.

One of the youngest warriors in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, the 23-year-old Baguio City native knows that it is the perfect platform to get back to ONE World Title contention.

"I’m very excited to showcase my talent against the best in my division. My hard work paid off, but this is just the beginning,” Kingad said.

“Expect me to double my efforts and to train harder now that I’m already part of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix.”

It will be a stacked Grand Prix with longtime pound-for-pound king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson bannering the tournament, alongside some of the best flyweights in the organization.

Aside from Johnson, elite athletes like Reece “Lighting” McLaren, Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu and former division kingpin Kairat Akhmetov are also expected to stake their claim in the tournament and get the right to face ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes.

Whatever it takes and whoever it is, Kingad vows to be prepared for the task ahead of him.

"I'm looking forward to fighting the top talent and earning that world title. I think everybody has a right to earn their spot, and I'm here to earn my spot,” he stated.

“I’ll do my best and give my everything in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix."

MANILA – 16 boys -- 9 from Metro Manila, 2 from Bacolod, 2 from Cavite, 1 from Rizal, 1 from Tarlac and 1 from Batangas -- emerged as the best of the Manila Regional Selection Camp of the Jr. NBA Philippines 2014 presented by Alaska held at the Philippine International Conventional Center (PICC) Forum Tent at the CCP Complex April 13. 10 girls – 6 from Metro Manila, 2 from Laguna, 1 from Cavite and 1 from Sorsogon -- will join the first-ever pool of Jr. WNBA aspirants who will compete in the inaugural Jr. WNBA tilt this year.
