For NBA coach Brian Shaw, being prepared is the best game plan



AXA Philippines recently participated in the NBA Republika Playoffs Party with special guests

NBA G League Coach Brian Shaw, PBA head coach Tim Cone and ABL head coach Jimmy Alapag.

With the NBA Playoffs back in full swing, basketball fanatics got into the hype as AXA Philippines, the official insurance partner of the NBA in the Philippines, recently participated in the NBA Republika Playoffs Party with special guests NBA G League Coach Brian Shaw, NBA G League player Jalen Green, and NBA Champion Glen Rice.

Hosted by Nikko Ramos and Tin “Suzy” Gamboa, the virtual event featured video segments including the Republika Dunk Off, Playoffs Predictions, and an engaging discussion with a panel of powerhouse coaches on their basketball career highlights, coaching experiences, and how to bounce back from adversity with the right game plan. The online event was livestreamed via the official Facebook pages of NBA Philippines and AXA Philippines.

For Shaw, staying prepared is the best game plan—be it in life or any sports game: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. If you call yourself a professional, whether you’re a lawyer, a doctor, an actor, there’s a certain responsibility to that. You have to put in your time and work. So, if you shortcut anything as a professional, there will come a time where the game will shortcut you because you didn’t do everything.”

Also joining Shaw during the NBA Republika Playoffs Party were ABL head coach Jimmy Alapag and PBA head coach Tim Cone.

16 boys, 10 girls make it to National Training Camp of Jr. NBA Philippines 2014 presented by Alaska, 797 join Regional Selection Camp

MANILA – 16 boys -- 9 from Metro Manila, 2 from Bacolod, 2 from Cavite, 1 from Rizal, 1 from Tarlac and 1 from Batangas -- emerged as the best of the Manila Regional Selection Camp of the Jr. NBA Philippines 2014 presented by Alaska held at the Philippine International Conventional Center (PICC) Forum Tent at the CCP Complex April 13. 10 girls – 6 from Metro Manila, 2 from Laguna, 1 from Cavite and 1 from Sorsogon -- will join the first-ever pool of Jr. WNBA aspirants who will compete in the inaugural Jr. WNBA tilt this year.
