Ben Askren is the greatest Welterweight competing in mixed martial arts (MMA) today. Since making the transition to MMA from wrestling, he has faced twelve top foes and has dispatched all of them without trouble.
Prior to MMA, Askren was a legend in wrestling. He won all 87 of his matches in both the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 season while competing for the University of Missouri and picked up the prestigious Dan Hodge trophy twice and also the Rev Wrestler of the Year and the Schalles Award.
Askren also represented the United States in the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he reached the quarterfinals. He made the transition to mixed martial arts in 2009, defeating some of the best Welterweights in North America. He comes to Asia in search of new challenges and will get one when he meets BakhtiyarAbbasov at ONE FC: HONOR & GLORY on May 30.
