Michael Ngan, Lenovo Philippines Country General Manager, said: "The Philippines holds huge opportunity for Lenovo. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), it is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets with a market size of 2.6 million last year and expected to reach 3.6 million this year. Our concept store in Davao City will strengthen Lenovo’s retail presence for mobile offerings in the country, especially in the Mindanao and Visayas regions  where smartphone adoption has been increasing rapidly[1]. The opening of our very first Lenovo Exclusive Store for smartphones and tablets is reflective of the potential and importance of the Philippine market to us.”
The store will be managed and operated by Banana Telecommunications, Inc., Lenovo’s retail partner through its exclusive distributor for smartphones, Open Communications. It is the second Lenovo concept store  in the mall, with the first showcasing Lenovo’s PC offerings for consumers and small businesses.
John Rojo, Open Communications Business Unit Head, said, “With an extensive network of retailers nationwide, Open communications is well positioned to expand Lenovo’s mobile business across the country.  The brand recognition Lenovo has established in the PC space has helped us quickly gain momentum in this segment. We have brought in Lenovo’s wide portfolio of reliable and high quality mobile devices that are competitively priced in every category to accommodate the ever-evolving mobility needs of our consumer base in the Philippines. Since 2011, they have been very supportive in growing the smartphone business and we are confident that our partnership will only continue to grow as we make the smartphone and mobile lifestyle more accessible to majority of Filipino consumers.”
